(de)script-ive

Having seen frequently on this list (and in other contexts) advice along the
lines of "Get such and such a script" I am finally casting aside all
embarrassment to ask "So what is a script anyway, and how would a person
know how to make use of one after she locates it?" I've seen the sites that
offer scripts, but haven't found anything to provide an intro ‹ a Scripts
101. Would happily accept referral to any info available on line. Thanks.

Hi Rhea,

(Cute thread title :)!

A script is basically a bunch of code that adds functionality to an
application. Let's say there's something you want to do in Entourage which
isn't available in the application itself. It is often possible to install
(or write) a script that will allow you to do that procedure. Not
everything is scriptable, but most things are. In other words, scripts
allow you to customize an application for your particular needs.

I think you'll find the rest of what you're looking for here:
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/help/script.html>

While you're on the site, you might want to explore some. Just click on the
Table of Contents link at the top of the page.
