Deactivating Preinstalled Microsoft Office

S

Sarah

Bought a computer last year with 2007 Office Home and Student Edition
installed on it. I bought the Professional 2007 edition as I need Access. I
did not do anything with preinstalled Office suite. I installed the 2007 Pro
and activated it. Recently tried to download an Excel template through Excel
but could not because 2007 Office Home and Student Edition is not genuine.

Just read that the preinstalled edition should be deleted first then install
the bought copy. I suppose uninstalling the 2007 Office Home and Student
Edition would just create problems at this point. Is there anyway to get
around this at this point? I suppose can go to Microsoft website and download
the template there.

Do not always pay to much attention when installing new sortware - but does
it say anywhere the trial edition should be uninstalled first before
installing a new edition?

Thanks

You can uninstall the trial edition without harming anything. Of course,
making a backup of all your important files is always recommended.
