Deadline backwards

I would like project to calculate time from the deadline backwards. I.E. I want to know the start date nessasry to finish the project on the given finish date. It's been a while since I used the program so my skills are a little rusty. Thanks again for the continuing support

As one of your first steps in defining your project in Microsoft Project,
you can set either a Start date or a Finish date for your project. To
schedule from a Finish date and calculate an estimated Start date, click
Projet - Project Information. In the Project Information dialog box, select
"Project Finish Date" in the Schedule From drop-down list and then select
your Finish date and click OK.

As you plan your project, using this "backwards scheduling" technique will
probably work OK for you. However, be very wary about attempting to track
your project with this backwards scheduling in place. I believe that you
will run into all kinds of unanticipated problems, and be very unhappy with
the result. Both the human mind AND Microsoft Project work better when we
are scheduling into the future from an estimated Start date. So, before you
start tracking your project, it would be wise to go into the Project
Information dialog box again and select "Project Start Date" in the Schedule
From field. Hope this helps.
