Deadline on Project Summary Task (Task 0)

Hello MS Project Community,

I have a .mpp file (MS Project 2003) which shows a deadline in taks 0 set on
1/1/84. I have verified all non-summary tasks looking for that deadline and I
can't find it anywhere.

How can I get rid of this deadline?

Thanks

Mauricio,
It should be as simple as setting the Deadline field to "no" for the
Project Summary Task. Just add that field as a column in your view. You
can hide the field after you've cleared it.

Hope this helps.

John,
Thanks for you promt reply. I included the Deadline column, tried writing on
it or deleting the content but I can't modify it. I double clicked the task
0, went to the advanced tab, and I see the deadline field is grayed out. What
else can I do?

Thanks

Mauricio,
I didn't actually have Project open when I responded, I assumed the
answer was simple but I was wrong. After digging a little further, it
appears that the Deadline field is not applicable to the Project Summary
Task, and that makes sense since that "task" isn't really a task at all.

Also the fact that the date you are seeing is the earliest date limit of
Project (i.e. Jan 1, 1984), makes me think your file may have some type
of corruption. Try this. Go to our MVP website at,
http://www.mvps.org/project/faqs.htm, and take a look at FAQ 43 -
Handling project file corruption and/or bloat. Try one or more of the
methods described and see if that helps.
