Decimal field precision error in linked table

I am trying to link to a MYSQL table and I get the
following error:
The decimal field's precision is too small to accept the
numeric you attempted to add
I am running Access 2002 on XP. Microsoft support site
said this is a known problem and fixed in a service pack
for Jet database. I applied the service pack, but the
problem persists. Anyone had similar experience?

Any help will be appreciated.
