Decimals

I'm fairly new at this. I can't get decimal values to show correctly in my tables or forms. I type in a decimal 8.5 (say) and it displays as 8.00

I have the "Datatype" set to Number, "Fieldsize" to Decimal, "Format" to Standard and "Decimal Places" to Auto.

Any thoughts?
