default area code in outlook is incorrect - how do i change it?

version 2007 - when I type a phone number in outlook it comes up with the
wrong area code - do I have to type the whole thing or is there a way to
change the default to the correct area code - 905???

That should be a setting in WIndows' modem and dialing options.

You can change that in the Phone and Modem options applet of the Control
Panel. Change your default dialing location's area code.
