default currency

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)

I have changed the system preferences to UK Pound stirling however the xl currency changes my pound sign back to a dollar sign everytime I re-open ther spreadsheet?

Hi Gordon -

I believe this is a known issue which is currently being worked on.
Hopefully the anticipated update [No, I have no idea when:)] will include
the fix.

bought my xls as a spanish default. the arguments (calculations) seem to look for commas (not periods) when performing calculations. how do I change the default calculations?

Excel gets this information from the system preferences. Change them there
and then quit and restart Excel.
