Default document template problem

Help!

I copied something from the New York Times to a new document, and ever since
then, when I call up a new document, it has a different format from the
default template. I've checked the default template, and it's still
correct. I've checked the margins on the "new" document, and they're all
set right. But the actual margins at top and bottom are very small, and
changing them on the "F-U" dialog page doesn't change them. It behaves as
if whatever is supposed to point to the default template is pointing to
something different instead.

I created a document called "normal.dot.doc" in one of my files and I have
to go get it instead of just saying "ctrl-N" when I need a new blank
document.

What's going on? How do I fix it?

Many thanks...

Phil
