Default find/replace settings

I have the default set for fast search, but when I try to find anything, it
pops up in the current column, and match exactly. Am I missing something?
This worked fine in 03, I just upgraded and am stomping bugs currently.

Yes, I also changed it to a different setting, restarted, changed it back,
restarted, and it is still specific.
