Default headers & footers

Is it possible to change the default footer selections? I use the same footer for most of my Excel spreadsheets and also like to have the footer in a smaller size font that the body of the speadsheet. Setting up this "standard footer" through the custom header/footer process is a lot of keystrokes & mouse clicks. With a program this rich, there has to be a better way and it would be nifty if I could either modify one of the current footer selections or add a new one of my own. Is this possible?

Create a new workbook with the number of sheets, formatting, headers and
footers, etc. that you want.

Save the workbook *as a template*, named Book.xlt in your XLSTart
directory. From now on all new workbooks will have those settings.

Or just save it as a template in your templates directory and use it to
create new workbooks instead of the default.

Also, if you want new sheets to be inserted with the same settings, you
can create a sheet template.

Follow the steps for creating a workbook template in the XLStart folder,
but:
-- create a workbook with only one sheet
-- save as Sheet.xlt

Thanks, JE, for the suggestion. I've created the template I want, and placed it in the XLSTart directory. However, the usual workbook opens when I start Excel, not the new template. Any suggestions as to what I might be doing wrong?

FYI - I've created a shortcut to the new template & am using that to open Excel.

Did you save it *as an Excel Template* and name it "Book.xlt" (without
quotes)?
