Default in Outlook Contacts

When I close a contact card, everything defaults to the fist contact card
instead of remaining on the last card that I used. Does anyone know how to
change that default?

The only thing reproducible is your post. The behavior is not reproducible.
Perhaps if you clarified what you meant and provided accurate steps to
reproduce the behavior. Include versions and views. This simply does not
happen on any installation I've seen.
