Default Normal.dot hangs Word 2003!

Word 2003 hangs when opening. Deleting Normal.dot allows Word to open but
then the next time Word is opened it will hang again (if I then delete the
newly created Normal.dot Word will open one time again. Using the /a switch
works every time.

FYI, I had been disabling services trying to find the source of another
problem and I'm guessing that I might have disabled the wrong one (even
though I've since started all of the services that I thought I had stopped)!
I've tried doing the Office repair and also re-installing Office yet the
problem persists. Any ideas?

Almost certainly a bad third party add-in is corrupting normal.dot by adding
some incompatible macro or some similar action.

Thanks Terry. It was OfficeAV.dll getting in the way. Took care of it and
all is good again.
