default page numbering - how is this done in a particular way i.e.

In WordPerfect one sets up a default setting where page numbering is
reflected in each document. Page * is to be on the top right-hand side of
each document - without the necessity of inserting it into each document.
How do I go about doing this in Word 2003

Open the document template and add a {Page} field to the top right of the
page header; however, the default template for Word is normal.dot. This is a
special type of template used for a variety of functions and it is not a
good plan to add headers/footers of any type to this particular template.
The answer therefore is to create a new template with your personal settings
and use that to create documents you want numbering.
