Default Tab Spacing in the Header/Footer

Yuri

How do I change the default tab spacing in the header and
footer in Word (Office 2003)? I changed my default
margins to 1 inch, but I can't find where to change the
default margins in the header and footer, so I have to
space them out each time I use them. Any suggestions?

Thank you.

When you change the margins of the document, the header and footer margins
change, too, but the tabs don't. There's still a center tab at 3" and a
right tab at 6". You need to drag the center tab to 3.25" and the right tab
to 6.5" (the right margin).

Hi, Yuri,

You have to modify the definitions of the Header style and the Footer
style to change the locations of the tabs, and check the box for "Add
to template" in the Modify dialog to save the change into Normal.dot
(or whatever template you're currently using).
