Default Task Type: Enterprise Global

You can set in the Ent Global the default task type (under tools - options)
to be Fixed units, fixed work, fixed duration.

however, it doesn't seem to come thru to the client level of Project Pro
2003 when i create a new project.

For example, if i set default task type = Fixed Duration in the Ent Global.
Save and Exit Project Pro 2003
I log back into Project Pro 2003 and create a new project, the default task
type is fixed units.

Is this expected behavior?
If this is expected behavior AND the default type type is controlled at the
individual installation of Project Pro 2003, is there a workaround to make
the Ent Global set each time a new project is created?

I guess the workaround would be to use Project Templates that have this
default task type set to the perferred method.

thx.

These options can't be set in the Enterprise Global, only the local global.

To piggyback on Gary's correct answer, the Enterprise Global file serves
several purposes in Project Server:

1. It is your organization's "library" of custom enterprise objects such as
enterprise Views, Tables, Filters, Groups, Reports, Fields, Calendars, etc.
2. It specifies your organization's default currency.

You will notice that neither of the above functions includes what you
attempted to do in the Enterprise Global. You cannot set the default Task
Type, Effort-Driven status, or any of these other settings in the Options
dialog in the Enterprise Global. What you CAN do, however, is to set the
Task Type and other options in each of your enterprise project templates, so
that every time a PM creates a new project from an enterprise project
template, the Options settings will be correct. You can also teach your
PM's how to set these options manually.

Hope this helps.

Both responses are very helpful. Thx.

I was thinking that templates would be the way to go, but i just wanted to
be sure.
