Default to save as 2003 format?

Hello,

Can I make some change so Excel and Word save documents as the previous
version so the rest of my office can open them in case I forget to choose
save as instead of save.

Thanks

I assume that you are referring to Office 2007. You can set the save
default for Word and Excel in the Options dialog. To get to the dialog
click on the Microsoft Office Button on the top left of the Word or
Excel screen. In the bottom of the resulting drop down you'll see a
button labeled Word Options or Excel Options. Click on it. In the
Options dialog, click on Save. This will bring up the option to set
the default save option to 97-2003 format.

If no one else comes up with an answer, just create a "Save AS" macro
that switches it for you and use that button instead.

Yes. Previously asked (by me) and answered by Bob Buckland.

"In Office Button=>Options section of the core (ribboned) apps you can
set a default save format in the 'Save' options area. This
also limits the feature set available when you start a new document."

You'll save yourself a LOT of time by searching the group before asking
a question.

Go to http://groups.google.com and type the name of the group in the
"Search for a group" box toward the middle of the page, then type a key
word into the search box.
