Default value in repeating table

The first field in my repeating table defaults to 2008 (the year)
When adding a new row, the first field in that new row should default to
2007 (i.e. previous value minus 1). I've tried every flipping combination of
position(), last(), count(). Help!

I can get it to count down OK using a formula in the default box. The problem
is getting the first fow to show 2008.
