Default watermark setting

I want to change the default setting in the text watermark. Currently the default includes the semitransparent feature and I don't want that, but I cannot seem to find a way to change the default setting.

Watermarks are created in the document header. The document header displays
as a washed out version to indicate that it is in the header view. If this
is what you meant, there is no way to change it.

If you have inserted the image in the header, increase the brightness and
contrast of the image and see if it looks any better.

Susan is referring to the Format | Background | Printed Watermark dialog
(Word 2002 and above), which does have the "Semitransparent" box checked by
default. I don't imagine there's any way to change it except possibly via
VBA.

Hi Susan,

You could create AutoText entries for watermarks. If you create them
in the Header/Footer and the Header or Footer style is in use then the
AutoText entries will be added to the AutoText menu on the Header and
Footer toolbar. This way all you need to do is go to the Header/Footer
view and select a Watermark from the AutoText menu.

To create an AutoText entry:
- Add a text watermark
- Go to View/Header and Footer
- Select the watermark
- Verify the Header style is displayed in the Style box on the
Formatting toolbar
- Press Alt + F3 to open the "Create AutoText" dialog box
- Provide a name for your AutoText entry
- Delete the watermark
- Test the AutoText by clicking "Insert AutoText" on the Header and
Footer toolbar
- Repeat steps for each additional watermark you wish to create
