deflate Word Art object shape

Please explain the process of "deflating" a Word Art object shape. This is
the terminology that is used in the textbook I'm using.

This is not Microsoft terminology. Best to ask the author of the book, or
look it up in the index to see if it's defined anywhere.

Your expression " deflating " a Word Art object shape to me, sounds like "
resizing ".

If you left click on Word Art object shape after you place it, black squares
appear, these act as handles

If you click on them and move them you will re-size the Word Art object
shape.

Hope this helps, can't think of any other meaning.
