Alt +0176 insert the degree symbol make sure you use the zero NOT the O, if
your not familure with the character map, it's under
programs>accessaories>system tools. Find the special character you want from
the graphic display and in the lower right corner you will see the key
sequence that will insert it at your cursor...

see it even works here... the temp is now 38°f at my home!
