This happens to this user each day. He is connected to a corporate LAN (NT4
DOMAIN). When he double-clicks a word doc or excel spreadsheet, he has about
a 45 sec delay before the parent app opens.
However, later in the day (perhaps as more machines are logged into the
network???) the delay doesn't happen. It doesn't seem to be a cache issue
because it is highly repeatable. Roughly speaking: In the morning hours,
there is delay. In the afternoon, it is very fast.
How can I possibly get to the bottom of this?
My thoughts are:
1) Maybe WINS or NETBIOS related.
2) Perhaps related to a path issue or the way the document file is
associated in the registry.
3) I need to understand the steps trying to be completed behind the seens
after the document file is launched and attempt to trace them.
Any assistance or guideance would be appreciated.
