Delay opening files

We have several users in an office network environment
(W2000)who when trying to open documents are experiencing
a very long delay waiting for drop down menus to appear.
It generally only happens the first time they use the
application, but is happening everymorning and across the
whole office suite.
Anyone experienced this before?

Yes, having this problem here, too. Can take up to 35

sec. for the directory list to drop down. Not sure if
it's related; but seems to have shown up after IT
installed "Active Directory" on servers.
