Delayed Outlook emails using hotmail

When I send emails from outlook 2003 via hotmail they are delayed, sometimes
by up to 2 days. I've received this reply on all of them: "Delivery Status
Notification (delay)." When I send emails directly from hotmail they are not
delayed...how do I fix this problem with outlook?
