How can I delete a column in Ms Project 2007. I have tried, but the column
just won't go away.

It depends... on whether you are using Project Pro Standard or Project Pro
Server. Standard you can just right click the column header and then click
"Hide" on the pop up menu. Project Server you can do the same to hide a
column but if it is part of the Enterprise Global it will reappear the next
time you open the project. To make it go away you have to "Hide" it in the
Enterprise Global.

Hello Lily,

To add a bit more to Darrell's good post. As he notes, you can "hide"
a column in a table by using the shortcut menu. You can also select
the column and hit the delete key which will also remove it from the
table. However, using either method does not delete the column from
the project file, it merely removes it from the table. Project stores
data in a database format and the fields are all set in advance. If
you have filed a column with data and need to delete the contents of
the field, you will have to delete the contents by selecting the data
and deleting.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I was able to delete a column, by highlighting the column and using the
DELETE key.

Hello qjb0607,

You didn't really delete the column -- the field, including the data
is still in the file -- you've just removed the display of the
column from the table.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
