Delete a Hidden Sound File

Bill Haskell

For a slide show, I would like to remove a sound track and replace it. However, I have not found a way to delete the existing sound file. The sound icon does not show. How can I find the file and delete it?

Bill,
The sound icon may have been dragged into the grey area surrounding you slide. Zoom to 33 % and see if you can find it.
If you have
Also it could be that the sound was attributed to the slide transition. I do not know what version of PPT you are using but in the slide transition taskpane (ppt 2002/2003) look for sound in the change transition section and apply no sound.

Bill,
If you can't find the sound file, use this "cheat"...
Save the PowerPoint presentation as HTML. This will create a file and a
folder. Go to the folder and find the sound file(s). Delete it. (IF there
are more than one, play them to find the one you want to delete.) Use PPT to
re-open the HTML file. Save it as a presentation. Bingo - no more sound
file. :)
