Delete attachment and keep message

I am a new user of Outlook 2002.

I just received an email from a relative with family
pictures attached.

How can I remove the attachments without deleting the
message itself? I tried to right click on the attachment.
A menu appeared but the Remove item is grayed out.

I would appreciate any help you can give.
