Delete key stop wrkng in Wd Xp on Wn XP

Had a loss of delete key functionality in Word Xp on Win
Xp? Tried "detect and repair", checked document protect
status, checked keyboard and connection. Delete key works
in all other Ofc Xp apps.

Any help is appreciated.
