After trying to install a Chinese traditional text, I
find the Delete key always brings up "Delete block No
(Yes)?" every single time I try to delete something. And
it doesn't delete anything whether I click on No or
Yes!! I have taken out my request for the Chinese
traditional text--which also never came in, but I can't
get control of my Delete key back. Any ideas???

Tools => Options => General (tab)

Uncheck both options about WordPerfect.

OMG. Such a simple thing. It worked! I don't know what
brought about the delete block thing, but I now can use
my delete key again!!! Thanks.

I suspect that Word defaults to having one or both of these checked under
some installation protocols. You wouldn't believe how often the problem
comes up!

The status message originated in WP 4.0 for DOS (or earlier) which had
little or no UnDo functionality. It was carried through into WP 5.1 for DOS.
I just checked WP 8.0 for Windows (the latest version I have) and I can't
find it. I've never heard of anyone who wanted it in any of the modern
versions of Word but apparently taking it out of Word's code would be a
major headache.

Suzanne and I have speculated the options are turned on by a third
party add-in. If the creator used the macro recorder to record a
modification in Tools/Options then they could have easily been picked
up.

Removal of the options isn't that big of a headache, the problem is
when users encounter these types of issues they need the options
available to turn them off.
