delete key

How do you get the delete key to work? Getting status bar question "Delete
Block?No (yes)" . Looks like a switch or something got selected to deactivate
my delete key. This is also occuring in excel.
How do I get my delete key to function again?

Judy, I can't say why it's happening in Excel, but here's how to fix it in
Word:

Tools (menu) > Options > General.
Uncheck both boxes referring to WordPerfect.
Click OK.
