Is it safe to delete employees that have not been used for years? Would like
to clean up resource list that is 3 years old.
When you delete those resources, you will lose their assignments and
time entries as well. If you don't have a need for those for future
reporting, than you can delete them. Generally I would recommend
against deleting them, as you never know what sorts of reports you
will want to run against old projects.

thx James, but if I plan on archiving the project wouldnt that maintain the
resource hours within the project? I am just trying to eliminate unnecessary
data, OLAP is running very sluggish pulling 3 years of data.

You can restrict the date range that OLAP is using. Set this nice and
small and then leave the rest of the data. That way, if someone want s
a multiple year analysis, you can build the cube for it manually, and
then go back to the small data.
Depending on how you archive, yes the data will be preserved, but
reporting across projects may be difficult: How much DBA capacity have
we been using in the last few years?...
