Does everyone agree that proper handline of deleted task
is one of the biggest shortcomings of Project Server?
Here's where we are having problems with it:
1) The inconvenience of the individual users having
to "hide" all their "deleted" task one-by-one
2) In the Resource Views, there isn't a way to hide
deleted task. So you have to wade through all the X's
and ignore them while scanning the reports. Not fun if
you've scrolled to the right to see the charts.
3) Worst yet, when you export the grids to Excel, the
deleted markers DO NOT EXPORT! This makes deleted task
almost impossible to handle!
My workaround, as painful as it might be, is to set the
start/finish dates of deleted task to sometime way in the
past or way in the future before I delete them. This lets
me filter them out by date. But if I forget, then it's
sorry-charlie because there's no way to get the task back
up again to set the date.
Is Microsoft working on a hot fix for this?
Is there any way to go straight into the database and get
rid of the deleted task?
