Deleted account and its associated email isdeleted...any way to recover or restore?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Hello! It's my first post here! I hope you can help.

I'm not that familiar with Entourage and a client of mine set up a new email account on Entourage for her new website...it's working great. She then deleted the old account (not sure if that account was POP or IMAP) which had 14,000 emails. When she deleted that old account, all 14,000 emails went with it. She now needs those back.

Is there anyway to recover those emails, or switch profiles, or some such thing?

In other words, does deleting an account delete all of the account's emails, and if so, can I recover them?

Thanks so much for your time!

Hello again. I'm wondering if the "restore microsoft user file" posts that I'm seeing around these here forums would work to restore the old email account? If so, that'd be great as I could then just edit the settings of that email account to check the new server.

Any info about either post is greatly appreciated!

Bump. Sorry to be a bugger, but I'm wondering if anybody has any insight into this. Thank you.

I'm not that familiar with Entourage and a client of mine set up a new
email account on Entourage for her new website...it's working great.
She then deleted the old account (not sure if that account was POP or
IMAP) which had 14,000 emails. When she deleted that old account, all
14,000 emails went with it. She now needs those back.

Well if she simply deleted the account in her identity and it was
Exchange or IMAP, the solution is easy: recreate the identity and
redownload them all.
The Exchange and IMAP accounts are simply cached locally so deleting
the account also deletes the e-mails in the IMAP folders.

If you delete a POP account, the e-mails associated with it remain on
the On My Computer section so I doubt that's what she did.

Now.... If she delete the entire identity and it was a POP account,
that's a very different issue. One you could only recover from using a
backup.
Is there anyway to recover those emails, or switch profiles, or some
such thing?

Well if she created a different profile for the new account, it could
be as simple as switching accounts.
If she repaired or compacted her identity in the past, the original one
from before the operation might also still be there as an old identity
so it could serve as a backup of some sort.
In other words, does deleting an account delete all of the account's
emails, and if so, can I recover them?

Only for IMAP or Exchange and you simply have to reconnect to get them back.
You can then copy them locally (in the On My Computer section) if you
do not wish to keep the account active after that.

Hi Coretin. Thanks for the reply! Unfortunately, even if it was IMAP or Exchange, she no longer has access to the old mail server to redownload them.

I'll check with her to see if they are on the "On My Computer" or if she can switch profiles.

Thanks.

That *really* sucks.
I'll check with her to see if they are on the "On My Computer" or if
she can switch profiles.

That would be great.
