deleted address books still appear when sending an email

This was a problem in 2000 and now still in a recently upgraded 2003 (11.5608.5606). When sending a message and looking through what address books are accessable in the 'Select Names' box under the 'Show Names from the:' drop down menu, it is listing a number of address books that have been deleted over the course of the last few months. It does not allow me to access them (nor do i want to), but is there a way i can remove them from this list?
