deleted bullet comes back after file is saved closed

Slide has first line bullet remove with backspace. It is gone.

The rest of the slide is formatted with bullets. After edits are complete
the file
is saved and closed. The first line bullet on the slide is gone.

Open the file later and the first line bullet is back.

Has the template for this presentation been created in another version of
PowerPoint? If so, open a new blank presentation and re-create the template
based on that. Copy in your slides.
