Deleted Emails

I just installed outlook 2003. When I delete an email,
instead of disappearing and going to the deleted files
folder, it stays in the in-box with a line drawn through
it. I have looked everywhere I know to look to change the
setting to have it go to the deleted files folder. I can
sometimes send an email to the deleted files folder, but
it still stays in the in-box with a line drawn through it,
can anyone help?

That's normal behavior for an IMAP account. Use the Edit | Purge Deleted
Messages to delete those items from the server.

Yes, I know I can delete emails permanently, I was hoping
that someone could tell me how to get them to leave the
inbox, while staying in the deleted files folder. Thanks
anyway.

You would have to move the messages to the Deleted Items folder, then use
Edit | Purge Deleted Messages on the Inbox.

That doesn't work, when I drag them to the deleted files
folder, they stay in the inbox with a line drawn through
them and in most cases do not appear in the deleted files
folder, the same happens when I right click and send them
to the deleted files folder. I am stumped.
