I'm not bitter.

I eat Access-sluts like you for breakfast.

Access -- as a database-- sucks. It isn't reliable, scalable,
useful.. It isn't fast or free or easy.

Only people that are stuck in the 90s would use it for anything.

I doubt we will get one. Aaron is just showing his true colours, a very
insecure and immature kid who prefers inneuendo to fact. From some of his
mantras it is obvious the he has limited understanding of DBs, Access or
SQL.

I'll say what I want-- when I want.
As long as you're giving mis-information; and you're stalking me.. and
you con people into using an _OLD_ database-- JUST BECAUSE YOU ARE TOO
MUCH OF A PANSIE TO LEARN A REAL DB?

Screw yourself Tony.
Seriously.

'oh but slut is such an offensive word'.

LINKED TABLES is an offensive word to me.
DAO is an offensive word to me.
SQL PASSTHROUGH is an offensive word to me.
COMPACT AND REPAIR is an offensive word to me.

Eat a fucking #### sandwich, not-so-sherlock~!

John;

At least I can spell my name right!!!

I know SQL and Access better than 99.999% of the people on this
newsgroup. I graduated from Access to SQL Server a decade ago.

I came back to save you guys from the nightmares of linked table
manager. And compact and repair.
And trying to do _ANYTHING_ on a scheduled basis. SQL Server has that
built in-- without writing batch files.

I need the ability to query XML-- like I Need a hole in my head.
I need intellisense for SQL-- like I Need a hole in my head.

Intellisense for TSQL has been here. For years. For free.
I could give a hoot-- I don't like it; it is too slow for me.

How is SQL Server Cheaper? You don't need to take it offline to do a
compact and repair.
How is SQL Server Cheaper? You don't need to call in the network admin
to bounce the server one weekend per month.
How is SQL Server Cheaper? You don't need to rewrite it every month
for performance reasons.
How is SQL Server Cheaper? Because SQL Server tells you what indexes
you should be using.

Yes, Books Online is more in-depth-- detailed information-- about SQL
than anything available in Access.

So let me guess.. If you purchased a 1996 Honda Passport. And you
went to go and buy a manual-- that was 50 pages long. Then we could
say that passport is only '50 pages of complexity'.

So now.. I run into schucks and I bought the same manual-- and it is
now 100 pages-- because it is both in french _AND_ in english?

Does this really _DOUBLE_ the complexity of the car that came our 13
years ago?

Does it change the insides of the car?

Just because the SQL Books Online 'manual' is -longer- does that mean
that it's more complex?

I Don't think so.
Yes; it has a lot more functionality-- it has a lot more functions
than Access.

And it has a lot more -- in depth coverage of SELECT FROM WHERE. Does
that make it HARDER?

People can write their own functions-- unlike in Access-- because you
can centralize them.
Does that make it _HARDER_ to use?

Yes. I am _FURIOUS_ that they changed Select From Where to From
Select Where.

That is the trendiest fucking bullshit I've ever heard in my life.

It's ok-- I'll just move to mySql.
What are the Access kids going to do when MS comes out with a version
that they don't like?

UH MOVE TO EXCEL ?

I dare to say-- that Microsofts upsizing of MS Excel-- from 64k rows
to 1m-- makes Access _COMPLETELY_ worthless.

Honestly-- that was the only benefit that Access -HAD- over Excel.
Now that the only benefit that Access had - is gone-- I just don't see
the point in Access.
If I write a sproc and I want to pass in 2 parameters-- based on stuff
on a form.
Real quick-- how much code do I need in ADP?

-Not any for the sproc itself.
CORRECT ANSWER.
How much code would I need in MDB?
Not any for the query itself.

WRONG ANSWER. I would need to change the SqlPassthrough to call the
sproc with 4 different parameters. Because the parameters are
changed-- I have to CHANGE A MDB QUERY.

In conclusion-- calling a sproc from MDB-- requires coding. In ADP,
it does not.

I know for a fact-- that SQL Server development is cheaper and easier
and bigger, better, faster-- than MS Access.

I guarantee it.
Because I can use tools like 'Query Analyzer' and 'SQL Server
Management Studio' and 'Microsoft Access' to build views, sprocs,
functions, etc.

In Access, you can build functions in VBA-- and then they don't run
when you want them to run anywhere else.
build the functions in VBA-- and then you want to use them in ASP ?
What do you need to do then?

UH.. rewrite?

Easier?

Select * From Sys.dm_db_missing_index_details

This simple SQL statement tells you which indexes you should create.
It is accurate. It is helpful.
SQL Profiler-- this allows you to SEE whats happening behind the
scenes.

You can filter it for a single user, or a single database-- anything
that you need to do.
In Access; there just aren't any tools for that.

I don't thnk that click and drag -BACKUP- is a feature. Because it
fails if someone is using the DB while you do it; right??

I don't think that SQL is inherently 'not suitable' for any
applications. Business or non business. I've been going through--
building examples from www.databaseanswers.com.

I don't think that it's humanly possible for you guys to create db--
faster than me-- using Access than I can in SQL.
I have one code window-- where I can copy and create 'create table'
ddl.

Do you ?

Do you use DAO to automate creating tables??? DDL is _SO_ much more
powerful... faster and easier.

and seriously, Gina-- report me to WHO?

Tony is the one that is stalking me.
Everyone on this group is using 'bullying tactics'.

And I will not put up with it for another day.

You script kids will no longer bully me into submission.

Thanks & Good Luck

EVERY ISP until I find the right one!

Stalking???? No, correcting you...

Bullying you???? Once again, correcting you AND (along with others)
answering the posters question something you consistently fail to do. As a
matter of fact, you do your best to chase the poster off and hijack their
thread.

You really don't have to put up with it.... leave, and please do it quietly!

This is an ACCESS newsgroup. Obvioulsy you couldn't read that sign on the
door as you walked in! However, you will notice on your way out and
eventually you will be out! Your language is abusive, degrading, childish,
belittling, insulting... Well, you get the idea. If you wanted people to
take you seriously and treat you with respect you'd present yourself in a
manner that warranted it!

-- uh wow. So now you're stalking me?

Stalking???? No, correcting you...

Bullying you???? Once again, correcting you AND (along with others)
answering the posters question something you consistently fail to do.

-- I consistently give the right answer-- from A to Z. Sorry that you
can't handle the truth.

You really don't have to put up with it.... leave, and please do it
quietly!

-- I won't leave, I will not be bullied into submission. Sorry-- the
mob mentality doesn't work on someone that has twice the db skillz as
these Access dorks.

-- I like Access. Honestly. Access Rocks. I use ADPs. I use ADPs
because they give a good migration path to DTS / SSIS. Because the
scripts-- run on an automated basis- when and where I tell them to.
But dipshits using Access for a _DATABASE_?? Are you for real? My
language is not abusive, degrading, childish. I just get attacked by
20 Access dorks every day.

[as usual, nothing worth quoting]

Aaron, are you aware of the degree to which your situation is
well-known to a large number of the people posting in the
microsoft.public.access.* newsgroups, and the degree to which those
people are maintaining your privacy by not posting publicly about
your history?

Keep up with what you're doing and that consideration from those
people will likely vanish, and the truth will be posted in these
newsgroups for all to see.

Do you really want the truth about your background history published
in these newsgroups?

If not, then apologize to Gina, for a start.

A

David;

I do not need to be subjected to your blackmail.

I've got nothing to hide. I am a victim of an asshole that attacked
me -- in the real world-- and he found some frat brother boyfriend to
take his side of the story.

I defended myself-- as I will-- in the future.

I refuse to be bullied.

I do not need to apologize to Gina. I didn't say anything to Gina.

Sorry & Thanks

-Aaron

PS - I've never gotten anything but disrespect from this whole crew.
I am right-- they are wrong. Point out a single claim I've made--
that is incorrect about SQL Server-- and I will gladly back it up.
_I_ am not the one that is doing the stalking ;)

It's too late for Aaron now:

Aaron:
You really should apologize to Gina. That is if you are any sort of man.
Oh, and don't wonder why Microsoft may very soon ban your sorry a s s from
their servers. When you act like a two-year-old, expect to be treated like a
two-year-old.

You've certainly proved that you are not a man of your word. Last year, when
we talked at the Bellevue District Court with your attorney, you expressed
how sorry you were, and that you would start treating people with respect.
What happened to this promise?
