deleted items folder is full

I am unable to delete any email messages and when I try to empty the deleted
items folder it says it was unable to open the folder. Any suggestions?

Is that the only folder that is unable to open? For example, can you open
your notes, tasks, calendar, etc. ? Also what version of outlook?

Try compacting the PST first and then try emptying the deleted items folder.
