Deleted items folder

My Deleted items folder is reporting incorrect size in Outlook 2003. After deleting all items (inc removing the 'recover deleted items'). I am going over my mailbox limit and no one knows how to sort this. I have reset my outlook profile and LAN profile, to no avail.

Any idea's.

Many thanks in advance.

It may be since all your mail is held on the server but I'll do some research
and get back to you.

This could be directly related to Deleted Item Retention in Exchange. The
default, depending on which version of Exchange is 7 days but it can easily
be changed and usually is (to prevent having to recover mail). I have DIR set
to 30 days on my server. This could be the culprit.

Many thanks for your input KOrland.

The deleted item retention period on our Server is 30 days also. Not sure how this could be the culprit as we have removed all deleted items from the mailbox, but they still flag as taking up space.
The only I can see to this point is exporting mail and recreating the mailbox.

Thanks again.

You will never get a real time size match on the mailbox between Exchange and
Outlook because of Deleted Item Retention. That is the most likely culprit.
However, if you're receiving emails from your System Administrator about
being over your mailbox size that might be a different matter.
