Deleted messages disappear

Why do my deleted items disappear completely on deletion and not go to any
deleted folder please? It does not seem to be a view issue.

Which mail account type are you using?
Do you get a prompt telling you the items will be permanently deleted?
Which version of Outlook are we talking about here?
