Deleted Project Items and Task View - Project Pro/Project Server 2003

If a project manager changes the task order (cut, copy,
paste, or inserts tasks) in a project and republishes
that project then the user may see duplicate tasks in the
Project Server Tasks view. One task for the old item
that was "deleted" and a new task for the newly created
task (which was actually just reordered). Is this
behavior the same in Project Professional/Project Server
2003?

Terrie:

This behavior is related to the cut and paste action which the system sees
as the deletion of one task and the addition of a new one. If a task simply
needs to be reordered, using a click and drag technique and adjusting the
predecessor and successor values preserves the integrity of the assignment
and will change only the start and end dates which will update to the
resource after publishing.

Gary,

This work around is greatly appreciated. You can't
imagine how much grief the cut and paste caused around
here.

Thanks,
Terrie
