Deleted User

I deleted a user without backing up her PST file. Is there still a way to
retrieve this?

Unfortunately, we do not run Exchange. We download messages from our POP
mail into Outlook and then the messages are deleted from the server. I tried
a system restore to yesterday's date, but could not get the PST file. Is
there a recovery program that will do this?

Did you delete her user folder under Documents and Settings? And empty the
recycle bin?

This is a Vista PC and it lists the accounts under Users/ App
Data/Microsoft/Outlook folder, there is no PST data file.

Does the Vista PC have an equivalent to Local Settings? I'm not currently at
a Vista PC to check.

It is through the recovered User/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Outlook file. The
PST file is missing from when I deleted the account and then restored it.
Any other suggestions?

There are forensic tools to recover deleted files, even those emptied from
the Recycle Bin. You could try a freeware application called recuva. Not sure
if it can help you or not.

I already tried another recovery program and that did not seem to work.
Vista may treat a deleted user differently and be more difficult for a
recovery program to detect. Thanks for your help.

You may want to bring this up in a Vista newsgroup since this is a deleted
file issue rather than an Outlook issue.

At first you need to recover Outlook.pst file. You can try to find and
recover this file with Easy File Undelete software:

http://www.munsoft.com/EasyFileUndelete/

It uses unique modern algorithms to recover files that other software
either recovers incorrectly or is unable to detect.
