Deleting a Task

How do I delete a task so that the whole line item is deleted? It seems that
when I delete a task only the task name is deleted but the line and the
duration and dates are reset to their defaults but they still remain.

I have tried highlighting the whole line and clicking on the line number to
no avail. Any help much appreciated...

Hi,

I was going to tell you to highlight the whole line and press the delete
key, that does it in 2003. If it doesn't work it's maybe also a matter of
Service Pack (although this problem doesn't ring a bell)
And edit,, delete task works by alml means.
Just for the sake of completeness, did you activate the installation with
Microsoft? If not, it is normal you only have a crippled version.

1. Go to Edit/Delete Task
2. Click on the row number to select entire row. Right click , press "delete
task "
3. in MS 98 there was an option to delete entire task when you hit delete
key, not sure how you set that option in 2003.

Hi,

It wasn't an option, it always worked like that; and it isn't an option now,
but selecting the whole task (through the ID field) and then hitting the
delete key does remove the task.

This was an issue in the original release of MSP2003. It's psrt of the same
problem that led to the inability to outdent subtasks and both issues were
fixed in the first service pack. Go to Help, About and see if it says "SP1"
or later - if not, go to the MS website and update your software.
