Deleting external links with external worksheets

I'm running Excel 2004 on the Mac. Each time a file is opened, I am
asked to update links to external worksheets. I've tried to "break
the link" within the options within Excel, but I continue to be asked
to update worksheet links. Is there a quick way how to identify which
worksheet within the .xls file that is looking for an external link?
Seems like this is the best way to DELETE the link with any external
source.

According to recent posts on the same subject, JE McGimpsey's recent answer
seems to be the most accurate:
