Deleting "Ghost" Contacts

L

Laura O

I edited one of my contact's e-mail addresses, and it is not visible anywhere
in the system, yet when I begin to type the contact's name in the address
line of my new message a drop down appears with the old address attached to
this person's name. How can I truly delete an old address without having to
deal with this "ghost"?

You are talking about the autocompletion cache here, which has no relation
to your Contacts.
Remove individual addresses from the autocompletion cache by highlighting
the entry when presented in the suggested names list (use your arrow key to
migrate to the entry) and then hitting your Delete key before you tab out of
the field. If your autocomplete list contains only a single entry, use the
directions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;289975

To clear the entire cache, follow the instructions here:
