Deleting Inserted Projects

J

Jon

We have MS Project 2003 Standard Edition on our PC and we use a Master
Project file to manage and run reports across all of our instered
projects. We have a few inserted projects that are now 100% complete,
however when we delete the rows to remove the projects, they don't get
deleted. If I have the task name selected and hit delete, than only the
task name is deleted.

There is a message that the selected item has actual values and if I
wanted to continue to delete. I indicate "Yes", yet nothing happens.

Any ideas?

Hi Jon,

In Project 2003 you have to select the whole line (through selecting the ID)
before hitting the delete key or go through Edit, delete task.

We tried that and the Master file still thinks the link to the inserted
project still exists. It won't go away.

We've even tried deleting the sub-project file from the folder that
they are all colocated in, but that didn't work either.

It used to work fine in Project 98 and 2000.

Did you create the master file yourself (Insert, Project) or is it
generated by opening a resource pool?

I don't know if I can send you the file since it's technically gov't
proprietary schedules. I could make something up and email it however.

Hi Jon,

Glad to know SP-1 worked and thanks for the feedback.
I know many companies restrict what can be downloaded, but working without
all necessary fixes can create more problems than the download ;-)

Let us know if we can help again.
