Deleting message from inbox and sending messages

I am having trouble deleting messages from my inbox. I
press delete button and nothing happens.
I am also having toruble sending messages. When I send it
says error. When I close the outlook express a box comes
up and ask if you would like to send messages in you
outbox now.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Is the e-mail highlighted in grey or blue? If grey then the window isn't
selected and nothing will happen if blue then you have a problem

The message title box is light gray then when I click on
it to read it is black. It is still black when I try to
delete. That was the color it was when the delete was
working. It has beeen doing fine for three years then it
started not deleting this past Friday. ????
