Deleting or 'turning off' a list

I had a column of data in an Excel file that I converted to a list to be able
to query the data. Now I want to add that list to another multiple column
list I have, but I have to delete or "turn off" one of the lists to be able
to add it to the other one. Any suggestions?

What do you mean by "turn off"? And why do you have to delete or "turn
