Deleting Short Form Cites from the Index and Tables Menu

In the Index/Tables menu under Table of Authorities, is there any way to delete the short form cite and keep it from appearing in the document and/or keep the typist from having to manually remove it from the document?

If the "Frames" Tool bar appears, click the delete frames button. it should
delete it and prevent it from reappearing everything time you work on that
particular document.
