deleting spaces on labels when nothing is in a field

I am just beginning to use Microsoft 2007 and I can't fain the option that
allows me to delete a space when a field is blank. can anyone help?

The 'safest' option is to conditionally insert the field and the space when
the field has content, and this applies to all Word versions e.g.

{IF {Mergefield Fieldname} <> "" " {Mergefield Fieldname}"}
